CLASSES
It is not easy to sum up our work and teaching methods, and to define the motto of Mosaica in one phrase. But I will try, and call my classes: “The Merry pictures”. I hope they will remind many of us of a wonderful children’s magazine from the Soviet era called “The Merry Pictures”!
Picture One – Rhyme time for the little ones. I unleash my most tender emotions, select the nicest nursery rhymes, songs and easy stories. Each exercise is accompanied by using toys, fingers puppets and gestures. It is important to captivate the children and to share our knowledge with their parents. Each lesson is a little step towards developing new communication skills and interactive behaviour in the kids, and each smile is my prize!
Picture Two – comprehensive lessons with children aged 1 to 3.5. These lessons include general and speech development, the development of fine motor skills, music and movement practice. We practice age appropriate skills, and each time we add something new. I try to make my lessons intensive and filled with lots of various activities. Besides, the children take home what they made in class – craft such as drums, snails, bunnies, etc.
Picture Three – rhythmics and children’s dance group Carousel. It is very important to teach children to express their thoughts and emotions not just through words. I combine over five various systems (such as the Orff Approach, Kodaly method, Folkloristics, the Shichida method, Music with Mum, etc.), I am always experimenting and trying something new. Our lessons teach creative openness, we enter the world of music in a non-intrusive way. We prepare stage acts, rehearse, prepare for performances and go out on stage.
Picture Four – Russian Folk Group Chebatuha. This involves working with adults. We have been lucky to get together – professionals and amateurs committed to their love of the Russian folk songs and culture. We have a very extensive and varied repertoire of folk songs with which we regularly appear before our audiences, and we always welcome new performers and musicians and are open to music experiments.
